"As a child, I held the neighborhood record for finding “lucky” clovers. Among the three-leaf shamrocks that peppered my back yard were just a small amount of the coveted four-leaf clovers, camouflaged in the grass, but visible to my sharp eye. Alas, I never found a Golden Shamrock…

The familiar shamrock is associated with good fortune, Ireland, and the Holy Trinity. On St. Patrick's Day the Irish pin shamrocks to their lapels. As jewelry, Golden Shamrock pins adorn the coats of Royalty during the tradition of presenting them to Irish Guards, who have loaned the gilded brooches to noble ladies of the regiment.

The actual shamrocks you see will turn brown, not gold, but although they will wither, their meaning and the memory will last. 

Materials  Dye-Na-Flow on cotton fabric, custom printed fabric, shamrocks from my yard, coffee filters, cotton and metallic thread, gold acrylic paint, metallic gold leaf, beads, felt batting, bias binding

Technique Sun-print using original templates, shamrocks embedded between repurposed coffee filters, Spoonflower-print (the large shamrock), machine stitching, gold paint, metallic gold leaf, hand-sewn beads
