Maybe it triggered a memory of my childhood, of exciting adventures in the woods and a makeshift treehouse where we endlessly created imaginative stories. The structure was rustic, possibly hand-made from scraps of whatever the builder could find. But those angles, those colors, the lines and textures! ….so attractive to my artistic eye, sparking a desire to capture the essence of youth and its boundless energy.
This was my response to a challenge within our Dirty Dozen Fiber Artists group. From a photo taken at an artist’s outdoor studio* in Titusville, Florida, each person in our group interpreted the challenge in their own style. The results are varied and eclectic, and the collection is currently traveling around various venues Brevard County.

Deconstructed screen printing, raw-edge applique, top-stitching
MATERIALS
Hand-printed cotton fabrics, bias tape, interfacing, batting, invisible thread.
