Autumn's Dream

Autumn's Dream started with a single piece of fabric that was hand dyed and given to me by a fellow artist, it measured 42 X 60. My goal was to transform the raw images of the hand dyed patterns into a tranquil forest stream. I discovered the stream in the pattern of the hand dyed piece and developed it using InkTense blocks with Aloe Vera gel.
I added the sectioned “frames” to give it an impression of frames one might see in a dream. I trimmed the length and added the inset borders, using the trimmed pieces to create the outer boarder and make the finished size measure 54 x 48. The trees and rocks in the foreground were raw edge applique also highlighted with InkTense blocks. Other techniques include couching, hand embroidery, thread painting and free motion quilting.
