My studio and Me. My haven and inspiration

I think my studio is unique. It is full of my colorful inspirations. It is small, 11’x12 that would have been a small bedroom.
In my last home, my studio was quite big, an extension of our garage, however I was still searching for my creative path. I found it difficult to maintain, and a balancing act with a family, and working.  I didn’t always have the confidence in my quirky likes.
I have slowly over the years collected my inspirations such as cut out pics from favorite artists, postcards, quotes, colorful pin cushions etc.
My favorite piece is a children’s chalk board that is a colorful fish. My inspirations have to be right out there on the walls and on my design wall for me to see. It is certainly a bright and happy room.
Some might think this is overstimulation. Perhaps it is a bit over the top and a bit of ADHD. (I was once tested and I was considered borderline.) So I am a visual person and I need to visually see my favorite inspirations and not tucked away where it may be forgotten. And then there are my basket draws of my colorful fabrics, all organized by color of course. Easy access and not tucked away. This is my haven.

Since color and pattern is my main source for creative ideas, I just need to open the draws look around and inspiration rears its joyful smile.
I am forever in love with my quilting stash. But I can’t forget the beach. I am lucky to be a 8 minute drive away from the Vero Beach beachside boardwalk and shops.
Living in a tourist town, while having it’s pros and cons, still is to me a feeling of relaxation and happiness. Perhaps a throwback to my memories growing up escaping every summer to Rockaway beach (when I was little) and summers away at camp: my escape from living in a Brooklyn apartment house.
Visiting the beach without having to fly off somewhere, is my mental refresh and also my inspiration for creating. Lucky me.
