Portals of My Mind
14.5 x 12.75
Inspired by Quilting Arts & TV for everything! I had a challenge for Portals & chose Portals of My Mind. The results came about because of techniques I wanted to try. I needle felted & thread painted on tulle. The tulle lifts slightly to reveal a deeply textured double-layer of Bosal foam brain & ice-dyed fabric. 3 colors of wool & 2 threads in 1 needle =highlighted hair. The ice-dyed background quilted with clouds is loaded with quotations printed on an ink-jet printer about senses that are portals to our mind. The shirt is recycled jeans & the scarf is a recycled dress. The creative problem solving needed to bring this together must have added a few wrinkles to my brain & was so much fun!
Techniques: Thread painted & needle felted tulle, 3 colors wool+2 threads in needle=highlighted hair; applique; ice dying; free-motion quilted 2-layers Bosal foam & background; recycled jeans & dress; crystals.
Materials: Tulle, loose wool, cording, embroidery thread, crystals, Bosal foam, ice-dyed fabric for brain and background, ink-jet printed fabric, 2 layers of wool backing, recycled jeans & dress.

An Uncommon View
32” x 24”
My current work is all inspired by one show from Quilting Arts. I was making all my own fabric sheets and printing them. When I saw a show about a company that would print my photos on fabric, I was so excited. I didn't hear the company name (Spoonflower), so I ordered the video (this was many years ago), and the rest is history. I created this quilt for a challenge about lesser known areas of Florida. This piece was designed from 9 of my Central Florida photos.
Techniques: Techniques included digital design manipulation, raw edge applique and free motion quilting.
Materials: My photos, fabric printed by Spoonflower, polyester thread, Inktense pencils.

Beetlemania I
25.75 x 18.13
Beetlemania I celebrates the luminous beauty of an iridescent beetle, inspired by an article I read in Quilting Arts magazine where the artist stitched real beetles onto her quilts, fashioning their delicate legs from beads. That bold marriage of fabric and beading has stayed with me. I’ve loved bugs since I was little; they are tiny walking masterpieces, alive with astonishing colors and wildly different shapes. Through fabric and thread, I wanted to honor their beauty and transform that childhood wonder into cloth.
Techniques: raw edge collage, beading
Materials: fusible web, cellophane, beads, cotton

Still Looking Up
16.5 x 13.25
Throughout the day, I often find myself looking up at the sky. It is a quiet ritual - a space where reflection and connection exist. Subtle shifts in light symbolize messages from those who have gone before me - whispers of patience, love, and guidance. Comfort is found in stillness and moments of pause.
Techniques: Three artist-altered photos collaged and printed on hand painted interfacing; machine quilted; hand stitched.
Materials: Hand painted interfacing, silk organza, cotton embroidery thread, rayon thread.
